Media Productions

Media production is an integral part of the practice of Aboriginal Productions & Promotions. Our work in film and digital media extends our longstanding tradition of storytelling through performance and public narrative. Our aim is to carry culture into contemporary visual expression and capture the stories of our communities for future generations.

Our approach is grounded in cultural authority and our relationships within community. Through this, we are able to respectfully engage and interview Elders in ways that prioritise trust, care and cultural context.

Our Film Practice

Original documentary and short form film
We develop and produce original documentaries and short form screen works that bring forward stories of Country, community and culture. Our films are shaped through research and cultural guidance resulting in authentic narratives that resonate with both Aboriginal and non Aboriginal audiences.

Corporate and institutional storytelling
We work with organisations and government agencies to create films that communicate with integrity and cultural sensitivity. Our aim is to help organisations articulate purpose, values and impact through thoughtful visual storytelling that places people and relationships at the centre.

Narrative and scripted screen projects

Drawing on decades of experience in performance and storytelling, we support narrative and scripted screen projects through cultural consultation, story development and creative guidance. We work alongside writers, directors and production teams to ensure stories are approached with cultural integrity and respect.

Cultural and historical storytelling
Our team specialises in translating complex histories and cultural knowledge into accessible and engaging screen experiences. Working alongside Elders, Traditional Owners and communities, we ensure stories are shared with respect, context and cultural authority, preserving important narratives for future generations.

Community led film projects
Community voices are central to our practice. We design collaborative processes that empower participants and ensure communities remain active contributors to how their stories are represented. Our approach prioritises relationship building and community connection, creating films that are genuinely led by the people and places they reflect.

Archival film and cultural preservation
Film provides a powerful means of preserving knowledge for future generations. We document stories, histories, language and cultural practices with care, creating lasting visual records that support truth-telling, education and knowledge sharing. These projects often become valuable cultural resources for communities, families and institutions alike.

Voiceover and narration
Through our network of respected cultural performers and storytellers, we provide voiceover and narration services that bring authenticity and depth to screen works. Our work spans documentaries, exhibitions, digital experiences and educational resources.

Interview facilitation and oral histories
One of the defining strengths of our practice is our ability to respectfully engage with Elders and knowledge holders. Built on decades of trust and relationships, we create culturally safe spaces for conversations to unfold naturally, allowing stories to be shared with the appropriate cultural context. This approach often enables access to perspectives and histories that may not otherwise be captured.

Integrated visual storytelling
Unlike traditional production companies, our work draws together filmmaking, graphic design, visual art, performance and cultural consultancy under one practice. This interdisciplinary approach allows us to create rich and layered storytelling experiences across film, exhibitions, public art, digital platforms and educational resources.
