About us

Who we are

Aboriginal Productions & Promotions is 100% Aboriginal owned and consists of a cultural and creative team, living and operating on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar.

WHO WE ARE

ngarla (pronoun)

From the Nyoongar language, Ngarla means ‘us’ or ‘we’. It speaks to identity, belonging and the people who we are.

Founded over 30 years ago by Co-Directors Dr Richard Walley OAM and Dr Robyn Smith-Walley OAM, Aboriginal Productions began as a platform for cultural storytelling through theatre, dance, music, art and stage production.

Today, Aboriginal Productions & Promotions has grown into a multidisciplinary business. Our work extends across cultural engagement, education, artistic collaboration and public storytelling, rooted in a deep respect for Country, community and protocol.

Our aims are to provide cultural learning for our community and to build connections with the wider community through culture and contemporary storytelling.
