Connections to Wadjemup

This exhibition brings together a collection of works that explore the enduring relationships Aboriginal communities hold with Wadjemup / Rottnest Island. Curated by Emilia Galatis and supported by the Wadjemup Aboriginal Reference Group, the exhibition includes painting, silk and sculptural weaving, featuring both established and emerging artists. Each work offers a distinct perspective on Wadjemup, tracing storylines of Country, memory, cultural knowledge and the island’s complex history as a site of Aboriginal incarceration.

Included in the exhibition are works by Dr Richard Walley OAM and Rickeeta Walley, each presenting their own personal interpretation of their connection to Wadjemup.

Selected works are available at the Wadjemup Museum.
